CHEST Foundation: Encouraging Patients to Take a Proactive Role in their Treatment Plan
Sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that affects multiple organs in the body, is a perplexing disease to both the physician community and those living with it. As part of National Sarcoidosis Awareness Month, the CHEST Foundation and Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research launched its second annual “Sarcoidosis: Seek Answers. Inspire Results” campaign to reach both clinician and patient audiences. The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the disease and encourage patients living with the disease to take a proactive role in their treatment plan.
Working in partnership with the CHEST Foundation and Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, Allison+Partners developed and executed an integrated campaign, which included new branding, robust patient and clinician toolkits, infographics, social media images, spokesperson training, earned media efforts and by-lined articles for CHEST and FSR publications. Without new research or studies to utilize, the team conducted media outreach geared towards reaching both clinician and patient audiences. We also gained access to a celebrity patient advocate, which was key in pulling through national results.
Within a two-month timeframe, the team achieved stellar media results, including a six-minute national Fox News Health segment and a radio media tour with 16 radio interviews that aired across 57 stations, resulting in a total of 22,900,000 earned media impressions. In addition, website traffic increased by 6,000 visits and there were 430,952 interactions across their social channels.
