24 Hours in Atlanta
If you’re only in town for 24 hours, you’ll want to get started early by fueling up at Thumbs Up Diner’s Sweet Auburn district location. From there, stop by the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the National Park Service’s Martin Luther King National Historic Site an urban park encompassing the civil rights leader’s birthplace and growth into one of the most important historical figures of the 20th Century.
From there, check out the downtown/midtown areas of the city where you can enjoy the world’s largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium, any number of fine art exhibits at the High Museum of Art or, for modern art aficionados, the Museum of Design Atlanta. Take a break and stop for lunch near Piedmont Park either at The Nook or Park Tavern. After lunch, take a walk along the Atlanta Beltline and enjoy the great local art and awesome views of the city.
Evenings in Atlanta are a bustle of activity; take in a show at the Fabulous Fox Theater, enjoy live music and concerts at The Tabernacle or Masquerade. Or if you are a sports fan stop by Phillips Arena for a Hawks game.
Enjoy dinner before or after your evening plans at one of the many fine restaurants throughout the city such as 4th and Swift, Bacchanalia or Restaurant Eugene. Finish the night off with a craft cocktail at Proof and Provisions or catch a comedy show at Dad’s Garage.
