Tackling Health Care Reform for the Healthcare Leadership Council
Every year, the Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC), a coalition of chief executives from different sectors in the health care industry, tackles a number of legislative challenges on health care reform. To move their issues forward, the Allison & Partners team works with HLC to help make these issues local and personal, demonstrating the impact of federal proposals on local communities.
We have built and maintained broad-based coalitions of Healthcare Leadership Teams (HLTs) including diverse opinion leaders in the local health care and business communities. Through public education, media activities and grassroots and grasstops mobilization, these HLTs demonstrate the impact of federal proposals on the health care system and their local communities.
Our team has been able to create HLTs in 50 states and more than 400 congressional districts, arranging more than 2,000 district meetings or facility tours with Members of Congress. In addition, we've held than 1,000 district meetings with congressional candidates to introduce them to HLC and begin a dialogue on health care issues, and generated thousands of grassroots and grasstops phone calls, letters and e-mails at heated times in the legislative process in support of HLC issues including the uninsured, Medicare reform, prescription drug coverage, health care mandates and privacy medical records.
By educating and staying in constant communication with key contacts, the public and Members of Congress on health care issues and organizing health care forums, town hall meetings and other community events that generate significant media coverage, HLC has achieved several significant legislative victories relating to access to health insurance, Medicare reform, medical privacy and health care workforce shortage. As a result of these efforts, HLC's grassroots program has earned a reputation as the best in the health care industry, and among the best in Washington, D.C. and HLC has successfully positioned itself as a leading voice on health care issues. In addition, HLC has provided additional benefits to its individual member companies by giving them unique opportunities to work with legislators at the local level as part of a broad-based coalition.
