Who has had the biggest impact on your career and why?
During my first job after college, my boss asked me to craft a job description of what my ideal position within the organization would be. It was an important lesson in being true to myself, understanding my career aspirations and identifying goals.
What is a favorite client experience?
I was fortunate enough to represent the Navajo Code Talkers for a number of years in their quest to build a museum. These brave men are the unsung heroes of WWII, creating an unbreakable code for battlefield communications based on their native language. I traveled the country with them for speaking opportunities, media interviews and government meetings.
What's been your most interesting job?
I worked the overnight shift at Kinko’s while going to school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I can’t even begin to describe the cast of characters that came through those doors in the early morning hours.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A professional basketball player or donut shop owner. Ironically, neither worked out for me.
Where do you think the PR industry is going?
It’s all about content. We have significantly more direct paths to reaching consumers than before and brands have to better leverage these new channels – online and offline. Compelling content that is based on market insights while remaining true to the brand promise is what will ultimately separate iconic brand from also-rans.
